Htel Aquaviva del GardaSponsored for the first time by the 22q11.2 Society and entitled '22q – Back to the Future', the 2016 biennial meeting harkens back to the inaugural 1998 retreat conference nestled in the hills above Strasbourg, France. Featuring a mix of outstanding invited speakers and selected abstracts, presenters will include top scientists and healthcare providers from around the globe. Hotel Acquaviva will be the amazing venue for this all-inclusive resort meeting on the stunning banks of Lake Garda with easy access by plane from Milan, Venice, or Verona and local transport by train, car, taxi or bus.
Professional Conference 20th to 22nd July - Overview
An extraordinary social program will kick off with a lakeside private beach reception on the evening of July 20, followed by a rooftop garden dinner on July 21, concluding with a combined family and professional luncheon on July 22. All registrants will receive discount coupons to Aquaria, one of the largest natural hot spring spas in all of Europe located adjacent to the famous ancient roman ruins, le Grotte di Catullo, and just beyond the walls of Rocca Scaligera, a 13th century castle. In addition, Sirmione offers fine and casual dining with gelaterias galore; authentic Italian boutique shopping; easy access by boat to Garda's numerous welcoming lakeside communities; and a short jaunt to Gardaland, Italy's premier theme park. A complimentary continuous shuttle will run from the conference hotel to Sirmione daily. Family Meeting 22nd to 24th July - Overview
Gardaland ResortCo-sponsored by Aidel22, Max Appeal and The International 22q11.2 Foundation, Inc. with support from the 22q11.2 Society, the venue for the conference on 22nd and 23rd July is the luxurious Hotel Aquaviva del Garda, and this high quality will be reflected in the meals and refreshments provided throughout.
Kicking off at noon on Friday 22nd July with a joint luncheon with professionals from around the world who were on site for their 10th Biennial International 22q11.2 Conference. This international meeting, which is only held every two years, will provide the opportunity to listen to some of the world's leading experts on 22q11DS, including families, and hear some of the latest up to date information on scientific advances and research. In addition, this is a unique opportunity to meet and mingle with families from around the globe in an absolutely idyllic location!
Friends and family who are on site but not attending the conference can choose to join attendees for lunch with professional attendees on Friday, lunch with invited speakers on Saturday, and/or for the gala dinner on Saturday as well. Where needed, Aidel22 will ensure that children and young people will be entertained and cared for by professionally trained staff who have childcare experience for those with and without 22q11DS. The gala dinner on Friday evening will provide a fabulous close to the conference inclusive of a three course banquet with wine, and a delicious two course meal and an activity colouring pack for our younger diners.
To round off the weekend, families will have the opportunity to visit the beautiful Gardaland Resort and Theme Park on Sunday 24th July. Travel by coach at a subsidised rate with other families and speakers in attendance from Hotel Aquaviva del Garda to the Gardaland Resort, gain FREE entry and return back the hotel after a wonderful day out. Please note that only a limited number of seats on the coach are available which will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
